Your laser includes an adjustable tension mechanism to ensure smooth operation. It is preset from the factory but if you find the need to adjust the tension over time, follow these instructions based on your laser type. Should you have any questions, please contact our service department at 630-679-1300.

LT-2D3D Tension Adjustment

Vertical tension
Using a 0.050” allen wrench, adjust the screw shown on the side of the laser. Tightening the screw will increase the tension and loosening it will decrease the tension. Small adjustments can make a significant change in the tension and over-tightening can damage internal components so make small changes and check the tension again before continuing.

This should be adjusted so there is enough tension to hold the laser’s position when you let it go but still be free enough for easy movement.

A 0.050” allen wrench is supplied in the case in the envelope behind the lid foam.

Horizontal tension
Using a 0.050” allen wrench, adjust the screw shown on the bottom of the laser.

LT-55 XL Tension Adjustment

Horizontal Tension
Using a 3/16” allen wrench, loosen the screw shown by the red arrow. Then, put some downward pressure on top of the laser head in the direction of the blue arrow and retighten the screw while holding that pressure. Pushing down harder will  increase the tension and pushing down less will decrease the tension.

This should be adjusted so there is enough tension to hold the laser’s position when you let it go but still be free enough for easy movement.

A 3/16” allen wrench is supplied in the case in the envelope behind the lid foam.

If you cannot create enough tension by pushing downward on the laser head, the tension washer between the laser head and base may need to be replaced. Please contact our service department at 630-679-1300 for a free replacement washer that you can easily install yourself.
